For anyone keeping track of clothing sizes for Oliver please note the following:
We're now in size 7 toddler shoes.
24 mos pants are a bit big around the middle but 18 mos are too tight.
Shirts need to be 2T or bigger.
And I'm sure all these sizes will change before his birthday so um, buy big.

Steps Forward and Back
Oliver saw me get out a cookie to eat yesterday and said, "Eat cookie." First sentence! And soooo cute. Of course I shared my cookie with him then.
This morning before nap time he was crawling all over me (one of his current favorite pastimes) while I was reading a book. He laid down on my lap with his Taggie blanket (his lovey, but he has three versions) and before I knew it he was sound asleep. 20 minutes before he should have gone down for nap. It's nice to be snuggled and napped on once in awhile.
This evening after Ethan got home we were carousing on our bed and Oliver said, "Eat 'nana." So of course we rewarded him with his second banana of the day.
I have a bunch of questionable quality pictures from my phone to post that should be up tomorrow.

New Pictures
Oliver had quite the adventure on Sabbath.
We were still recovering from our sickness so nap times were off kilter and we decided to forgo coughing on all the other little children in SS. Instead we went with Grandma to Tri-Cities and had lots of fun. Check out the day's pictures here.

Christmas 2008 Travels, the continuation
--continued from this post--
We had to use those chains until we hit about Woodburn, or Gervais; I can't quite remember where. It was quite a ways from Portland. The worst part was getting out of the housing development and then just having to go so slow. We decided to drive for another hour at the actual speed limit after we took the chains off and then stop for the night. 45 minutes at 60 mph we also decided to stop at a Target in Keizer and get a cheap pack-n-play for Oliver to sleep in.
We ended up stopping an hour or so south of Salem and boy were we glad there was NO SNOW THERE. Oliver actually kept to his normal bedtime during this and had been asleep for about 3
hours when we stopped. We pulled the pack-n-play out of the car first and set it up in the bathroom and whisked him into it. I tucked him in and we never heard a peep from him all night.
We let Oliver wake us up (he normally wakes at 7 am) and after breakfast at the hotel we were off. It was a pleasant (if longer with more stops for Oliver) trip and we arrived in one piece just in time to put Oliver in bed in yet another pack-n-play at Grandma's house.
Whew.
Once there we had a wonderful time. Ethan decided not to stay an extra day so he drove back the following Sunday and I flew back (yes by myself with Oliver, quite a handful) on Tuesday
the 30th. Thankfully we found an affordable airfare straight into WW so we didn't have another hour in the car after three airports and two planes.
Oliver has the wrapping paper thing down solid now. We start a corner and he just keeps tearing. I'm not sure he understands when presents are for him or that the point is what's inside
but he has a ball.
And how were your holidays?

Words Oliver Can Say
bah (heavy on the 'hhh') - ball
baye - bye
mama
dahdee - daddy
[edited to add:
iddee - kitty
dee - ding]
Various babble can sound like full sentences now but after he spews forth the syllables we can't distinguish what were words that we can really call new words in his vocabulary.
He can follow directions, especially when you point and is so close to a full on RUN.
He can stack blocks one on top of the other, claps after each is stacked and knocks them down with a big "hurraugh".
He's a big copy cat when it comes to language. I think he tried to say banana the other night; we've heard him say 'cat' complete with full T at least once; he was using 'dat' and 'dis' alot but those have gotten a little less frequent (thank goodness!).
He loves music and will push buttons on his toys just so he can stand there and dance (wiggle, with his hands in the air) next to them.
He loves his Signing Time videos more and more and is trying to do the more complicated signs that use a few fingers now. He can sign lion (backwards), all done, and knows lots of the signs when he sees them.

BREAKING NEWS
Tonight Oliver walked! Really walked! More than just one or two steps at a time between pieces of furniture and across open spaces of the room! Of course he still prefers crawling when we get all excited and ask him to come, because it's faster. I'll try to get a video of him tomorrow and get it online fast!

Another great product
I was given a hand-me-down KidCo Baby Food Mill and have just gotten out in the last couple of days to try it out with O. So far we've put fresh avocado and frozen mango chunks through it and it works great. This may just save my bank account from hemoraging money from all the baby food we're most likely going to have to buy. Best price I found online is at One Step Ahead.

ah, sleep
Oh dear Friend, how I have missed you! [yawn]
O went down about 6 pm last night, we thought for a nap. Turns out that boy was VERY tired. He is currently still asleep and it's after 7 am. I laid down at about 7 last night and woke up a few times, thinking I should get out of my jeans, but I slept until 5 this morning. Whee! :) I shed those rivets and cuddled back in with my hubby for a few hours.
I'll be posting some pictures and videos later today and this week but here's the highlights of our trip:
We met Ella! She is a cutie. I have already forgotten how small and smooshy O used to be. Newborns need a lot of holding but are so smooshable you don't mind; that is unless you're mama and you're having to feed said lump ALL THE TIME.
I get sick! I was not a cutie. I tossed my cookies big time. Think it was something I caught before I left as it was from both ends and I can trace my wobbly tummy for a few days before the tossing. Since I was incapacitated for a whole day, Mom got to take care of O pretty much exclusively for 24 hours. I was so weak I didn't want to even pick him up in case I dropped him.
Mom gets sick! Thankfully I was mostly well by then and could then take over with O. Gah the sickness. Gah gah gah. Thank goodness C and A have cable.
O gets solid food! He was a cutie. He didn't really react to his first taste of sweet potatoes. He seemed to like the spoon much more than the stuff on it. And he burped the sweet potatoes later so his tummy didn't really care for them either. But it's all on my camera and will be uploaded for maximum viewing later.
Our plane is delayed. A lot. This was not cute. We were stuck in the Denver airport for much longer than expected and didn't even land in PDX until 9 pm. We were supposed to arrive at 7:30. Mom and I were so glad for Claire's hospitality, even though she wasn't at her house.
And that's the news for now.

A little more movement
Here's another clip from last week. He's rolling over now! So far it's from back to front, but he gets an arm trapped under him almost every time. He's still figuring it out.
Also - he's getting his first tooth, a bottom incisor. And he also has a cold. Poor guy! I'll try to take some video of him when he's NOT on the play mat. We do use the other toys! :)
[Edited: Clip removed to stop the autoplay. You can still see it here.]
