Day 6
Thursday we headed to Wet and Wild, a swimming pool/park with slides, wave pool, lazy river, etc. It was a blast!
Ethan had a reservation to swim with the dolphins as well. I hung out on the sidelines (couldn't take my camera past the 'ropes' because of course they want you to buy their souvenir photos) where I took pictures of the great event. Ethan got 'kissed', got to touch tongue, teeth and skin, had him jump to touch his hand, took a ride on the dolphin, 'danced' and more. Ethan had a great time.
Ethan tried out a couple of the slides and enjoyed the wave pool whereas I enjoyed the lazy river.
Food was inclusive there so we partook. But it was basically cafeteria food so not really fantastic. But the ice cream was free!
Once back at our hotel we crossed the street back to the mall area and found a fabulous Italian place for dinner.
Day 7
We had to check out of our room by 10 am but our flight wasn't until about 4. So we checked out, checked our bags into the holding area and went back to the mall. I walked around a bit more collecting some last minute souvenirs while Ethan chilled at McDonald's with his large soda.
A bit before one o'clock we headed back to the hotel to catch our shuttle to the airport. Our vacation was over but we enjoyed it so much! We were ready to go home and see our Oliver!

Oliver sizes
For anyone keeping track of clothing sizes for Oliver please note the following:
We're now in size 7 toddler shoes.
24 mos pants are a bit big around the middle but 18 mos are too tight.
Shirts need to be 2T or bigger.
And I'm sure all these sizes will change before his birthday so um, buy big.

Cancun Adventures: Day 4 & 5
Day 4
Tuesday headed to Cancun Palace for our free massages and my manicure. We ate breakfast (free!) and then headed to the spa. The massage was devine and my nails are a wonderful light purple.
We got some swimming in, and had lunch (free!).
We were kinda bored with hanging around a different hotel so we hopped in another taxi back to our hotel for a nap and some computer time with O. We could have gone back to Cancun Palace for free dinner but we decided their cafeteria style food wasn't what we were looking for.
We decided to eat at Planet Hollywood. They had a fantastic vegetarian burger that they must have made themselves. Ethan had their salmon dinner and a large plate of caramel crepes.
Day 5
Wednesday was our Adventure Cancun day - zip-lining! Turns out Holkan Kingdom is based on a book series I have yet to research. But the zip-lines were multiple not just one. They had towers built around this swampish, river area. 10 zip-lines and 2 suspended bridges later, I only had a small scrape on my ankle from not pulling my feet up fast enough and so much adrenaline running through me I didn't know if I liked it or not! :) I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think there were enough zip-lines that I finally got the hang of it when we were done. And I've got their overly priced souvenir photo to prove I did it!
We were done by lunch so we decided to nap a bit and then try to get out to Isla Mujeres since we missed it earlier. We got the ferry over and loved the beaches! So much white sand and so warm and shallow so far out! The sand at our hotel is actually broken shells so it feels quite a bit different.
Ethan got to snorkel a bit while I sunned myself and then we swam a bit. We ate dinner at a fantastic Italian place called Pizza Rolandi's. Ethan got ravioli's (what else?) and I choose the spinach cannelloni's. So yummy! We walked a bit more to look at the different shops and then headed back to the ferry. We caught it just at 7 which here is just before sundown. Check out my pictures from the ferry on picasa. They should be up later today.
The ferry had a closed portion and then an open air top. Since we were wet from swimming (you never dry here) we were not allowed inside. Haha.

Cancun Adventures: Day 2 & 3
Day 2
Well, Sunday we set out for Market 28 downtown which was supposed to be this great flea market. It was raining and we got off maybe a stop too early so we were very wet. Caught a taxi the rest of the way to make sure we didn't get lost. It was a very large and rambling market but there were basically only a few kinds of merchandise: silver, cigars, t-shirts and woven bracelets, purses and wraps. I got a few things but we didn't walk around too much.
We ate lunch in the center of the market at a little Mexican place. It was good food and out of the rain!
While eating I saw a black kitten on the roof of a nearby stall. A flock of pigeons was in the little square next to us and kids were chasing them and throwing pieces of bread (or tortilla? It was hard to tell.) at them to make them fly. A bunch of birds flew over the kitten all at once and he launched himself up to grab one, going end over end but he only caught air. It was quite the acrobatic show.
After coming back to the hotel we took a dip and decided to try the Indian place across the street in the outdoor mall. It was fantastic! If you ever come to Cancun, try Elefanta. I think it only opened a few months ago. The view is great, especially at sundown, and the food is awesome.
Day 3
Monday was supposed to be our Isla Mujeres tour. A little island with shopping, snorkling, diving and even better beaches than Cancun. But I was hit with a bit of intestinal nastiness so we decided to nap it out.
We did some more swimming in the pool and not much else. I did get to watch The Bachelorette on TV. Woot!

Cancun Adventures: Day 1
This morning we slept in. Yeay! The bed is super comfy and we were pretty tired from traveling. We walked down the beach until it started raining on us and then cut through a membership only hotel to the road. We took a taxi to another hotel where we gamely sat through a 'membership' speil to get a free breakfast buffet, t-shirts and next-to-nothing tours. We signed up for four activities, all for $75. Here's the schedule:
Sunday we plan to take the bus to the big Market downtown, and possibly go to, wait for it - Walmart. :) We have a kitchenette in our room and we're thinking of having dinner in one night.
Monday we take a boat to Isla Mujeres where Ethan will bring his snorkling gear.
Tuesday we get a day pass to that hotel (it's all inclusive so we get massages, food, etc) and I paid a bit extra for a second spa service - a manicure.
Wednesday is the zip-line! I wanted to do one big daring thing while we're here so that's my choice.
Thursday is the Wet'n'Wild park - slides, pools and lots of activities. Ethan also paid a bit extra to swim with a dolphin that day!
Friday is all ours to lounge more until we leave.
After leaving that hotel we walked along the road to a luxury mall where I found a couple new flavors of Labello lip balm. We kept walking to another outdoor mall and found a Chili's to have lunch at.
Most of those activities are half days too so we'll still have lots of time to look for shells on the beach and go swimming in the pool.
I'm heading down to swim right now! :)Adios!
